Lockdown Update

A lot of development since the last blog. So I will break it down into two parts. Scenery and buildings. The layout and associated scenery got lots of attention in 2018 and the beginning of 2019 but buildings have dominated since then.
1. Final touches on landscape and installation of bridges, tunnels and track.
It appears that I didn't take many pics between here and building production. Woops.

2. Practiced on a small corner doing grass and ballast.

3. Buildings: started with a couple of houses.
Farm house about to be sprayed
First house for the town
And a stonemason cottage. The town house and the farm house were made using styrene, which came in sheet and strips. Glued together then windows added also in styrene. The stonemason was all timber with a shingle roof made from card that was cut into strips, then shingles and weathered.

4. Timber Mill. Big project that was designed and drawn by me based on images of internet mills. Turned out to be an American style mill. Decided to include a working water wheel, overhead drive shafts and moving saws.

5. Ourimbah Creek Station. Modeled this from the original train station at Ourimbah. There is no such station as Ourimbah Creek but I thought I would name the layout after our location where we lived growing up which was originally a profitable timber getting area with many timber mills.

6. Flour/Grain Mill. Another big building but the first one I had a go at weathering to look old. Really enjoyed doing this and am now more confident to go back and weather the rest of the buildings.

Note the water tower. Built from scratch using balsa and cardboard.

7. Fish and tackle shop. I need a name for this other than Salty Bill's Fish Shop. Help me out please.

8. Workers shacks. All shapes and sizes for the timber getters and mill workers.

Taking shape

9. Church.

Wow! Wow! Wow! It's looking amazing! Good to finally see some good pics of it! The buildings are so tiny! My favourite is the flour mill! And what's wrong with Salty Bill's Fish Shop?
